I got the 15 Pro Max delivered today and these are my first impressions. I haven’t played with the camera (this is the reason I upgrade yearly), but I will give it a whirl over the weekend! But for now, these are by initial impressions after using the phone for a couple of hours.
1.It’s so light!
The 12, 13 and 14 Pro Max’s felt premium but were hefty. And after using those 3 models for the last 3 years the 15 feels light, very light. It is only 19 grams lighter than the 14 Pro Max but feels as if it’s much more lighter.
2. It is smaller
Just like the weight, the phone is a tad smaller than the 14 Pro Max, the rounded off curves does seem to contribute to this, and the 15 Pro Max does not dig into my palm like the 14 Pro Max did.
3. Titanium is nice
My feelings might change but having the last couple of hours with both phones the stainless steel on my 14 Pro Max looks premium but the titanium on the 15 Pro Max feels premium. This might be due to that the the sides are not covered in fingerprint smudges and the titanium finish on the new phone still looks new. The 14 Pro Max looked smudged up after 2 minutes of unboxing and it is not the case with the 15. That said it would be interesting to see how the Titanium holds up, I got the natural titanium colour without any PVT coating of colour on it, so my bet is that it does hold up well. Only time will tell.
4. The bezels aren’t that small… then they are.
When I first turned the phone on I was disappointed – the bezels felt as if they were the same size as before, but after setting up the new phone and then moving on to the 14 Pro Max I see the difference. The 14 Pro Max does have a big bezel, funny how I was happy with them for a year and all of a sudden it looks ancient.
5. Action button is dope
I have set it to launch the camera for now. It is in an awkward spot to be used as a shutter button but I will get used to it. And being able to get to the camera quickly without having to have the display turned on or the phone locked is a great win.
