The iPhone 15 Pro Max heating problem

Literally everyone on Twitter(are anyone calling this X?) and TikTok seem to be thinking that the iPhone 15 Pros are heating up and catching fire. OK, so I know it’s not “literally” everyone on these platforms, but that is what the algorithm on these media websites think I would love to see. So every time I go on this app it riles me up, because I have had the 15 Pro Max since day one and haven’t had any of the heating issues.

This is not to say I have never had heating issues, the phone does heat up, but this has never made me concerned about my phone.

The only times I have felt any heat (still, nothing of major concern) has been when I plug the phone on to a usb-c dock at work where two monitors and other peripherals are attached. The iPhone does charge rather quickly and also has to drive two monitors at the same time – this makes the titanium frame a bit hot. But not once have I unplugged it worrying about the phone.

Apple has said there is a software update coming to address the phones heating and there are purely software issues and there is nothing wrong with the new design or chip. As per Apple, Instagram, Asphalt 9 and Uber are the 3 apps that a causing the phones to heat up. While I do use Instagram a lot I have not had this problem, consider myself lucky.

It will be interesting to see how the software update plays out but yesterday I wiped my iPhone 14 Pro Max to set it up for my partner. And today the iPhone 14 Pro Max has been heating up (again, nothing of concern), and in my past year of using the 14 Pro Max it rarely got hot. I am pretty sure the issues with the 15 Pro Max are all to do with iOS 17.

I hope Apple doesn’t wait till iOS 17.1 to get this update out and there is something in the next couple of days with a minor bug fix, and I can go back to Twitter and TikTok without getting all riled up.
