Apple has to fix AAA gaming on the iPhone

Apple has been trying to get serious about gaming the last few years, and since the introduction of the M-series chips there has been a lot effort to get game developers onboard the Apple ecosystems. Apple did and is still continuing to get some traction with multiple AAA games coming to its devices - not two years after release on other platforms but on the same day these games launch on PC + consoles. But headlines like this from Gamesradar make are making it look as if it's all gloom and doom to Apple's gaming efforts. Tools like the Game…

Apple Intelligence – The 3 not so nice things about it.

I have already wrote about how I feel about Apple Intelligence and what makes is unique amongst all the Artificial Intelligence models/tech out there. There are however a few things I know Apple could have done better: 1. The image generation capabilities. When Apple showed off the image generation capabilities on Apple Intelligence my first thought was that it looked like something from Midjourney back in 2022. It didn’t have the panache that you would expect from Apple.  Apple Intelligence can generate images in three different styles : sketch, illustration, and animation. Photorealistic images cannot be created as it could…

Apple Intelligence – Thoughts on it

There is a saying in tech amongst who follow Apple which goes “Apple is not the first to the party, but the best dressed”, It is very early to say if that is true when it comes to Apple’s take on Artificial Intelligence, but in theory Apples take seems to be the most useful for a lot of people. I’d argue that there are two unique selling points of Apple Intelligence when compared with the “Artificial Intelligence” that people know of: Your Apple devices know you best Say you have a query that AI can help you with, you go…

WWDC 2024 : A collection of thoughts

Ever felt so overwhelmed at the amount of information thrown at you at almost breakneck speed that you felt like you need to take a break from life to process all that happened? That’s what Apple’s 2024 World Wide Developer Conference felt like, at least to me.  Apple didn’t dwell on any of the major features coming to its software platforms but saved up time for the big Artificial Intelligence Apple Intelligence section at the end of the keynote.  Before we get to talking about AI, let’s see what Apple had in store for its software platforms. VisionOS 2 As…

3 M4 iPad Pro features I’d like to see on the next MacBook Pro

The new M4 iPad is all sorts of amazing, the hardware is pretty great. It is easily said that what is holding the iPad back is the software. Putting macOS on the iPad does not really make sense as macOS is a mouse/pointer-first operating system whereas the iPad is touch-first. But there are a few things I would like to see the MacBook Pro borrow from the iPad:  The M4 Chip The latest top of the line MacBook still has the last-generation M3 chip. It felt weird typing that last sentence, just over 6 months ago the M3 chip based…

Thoughts about the Apple iPad event – May 2024

We had the first Apple keynote of 2024 today, the new iPads were long overdue with it being over 18 months since they last saw an update. This could have just been a press release, or it could have waited for WWDC next month, but Apple did the right thing by letting the new iPads have their own event, as I feel that these are some pretty impressive hardware upgrades. iPad Air The first upgrade was to the iPad air, the big news is that the Air now comes in two sizes, there is a bigger 13” variant which I…

Triple Click Productivity

Smartphone addiction is a real thing and it is a bad thing, especially bad when you have goals that you want to achieve in life but all you do is have your phone in your hand and alternate between Youtube Shorts, Instagram reels, and TikTok videos. I have found myself so drenched into these vertical videos that I would lose track of what app i am in. they all do the same and pretty much have the same interactions to move on to the next video. I have been trying to get rid of my smartphone addiction for a while…

The iPhone 15 Pro Action Button

It’s about 6 months since Apple replaced the mute toggle switch on the iPhone. The iPhone, since its inception only has lost a couple of buttons. The iconic home button got replaced with gestures and a full screen with the iPhone X, and Apple with the latest iteration of the iPhone has replaced the mute toggle switch on the side of the phone with an action button. This change was limited to the Pro and Pro Max versions of the phone, the regular iPhone 15 series still has the traditional mute toggle switch.  The mute toggle switch on the iPhone…
