Last September Apple switched the iPhones from the lightning connecter to USB-C. This brought an end to some of the overpriced but well-reviewed Lightning accessories.
The MagSafe Duo charger and the MagSafe battery pack where really popular iPhone accessories, depending who you ask that is. The first party support was great but they were (just like every Apple accessory) overpriced. Amazon had and still has a lot of alternatives for a fraction of Apple’s pricing, but the Apple first party accessories worked well with the iPhone offering exclusive features.
I still use my beloved MagSafe Duo charger everyday. It stays on top of my bedside drawer and goes with me when I travel. I do carry an extra USB-C cable for my iPhone 15 in case I need to charge faster via the port, but my preferred way of charging my iPhone is via MagSafe. Being able to charge my phone (or sometimes my AirPod Pros), and my Apple Watch at simultaneously on a portable and lightweight charging solution is a blessing. I am going to use this thing till it dies, but would love a USB-C version that can stay in my bag and for use when I travel.
I didn’t buy a MagSafe battery pack but had planned to get one when it went USB-C and I am still waiting. I was (wrongly) convinced that we would get it before last Christmas and it hasn’t been the case. I hope with the new iPhones that will come this September, Apple would relaunch some of the MagSafe iPhone accessories.
Apple, if you are reading, let me pay for these please.
