Apple Promoting F1 Movie with Wallet App Notification

Joe Rossignol, on MacRumors:

An unknown number of iPhone users in the U.S. today received the push notification, which promotes a limited-time Apple Pay discount that movie ticket company Fandango is offering on a pair of tickets to Apple’s new film “F1: The Movie.”

Some of the iPhone users who received the push notification have complained about it across the MacRumors ForumsRedditX, and other online discussion platforms.

Absolutely disgraceful behaviour from Apple. There are no two ways about it. If this had happened on Android, I would have said, “If it’s free, then you are the product.” But this is iOS, the so-called “premium” phone operating system.

Apple has pushed these self-promotional notifications before, but I’m glad it’s finally getting backlash.

Just weeks ago, they nailed the haptic trailer for this film. Today? Well done to the folks in Cupertino for completely ruining that.
